Empowering Women and Strengthening Communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina
ASB SEE in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in partnership with the Association Žene sa Une from Bihać, is implementing the project “Providing Assistance to Vulnerable Women and Developing an Integrated Social Protection Program.” Funded by the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the project is carried out in collaboration with ten partner local self-governments.

This initiative aims to enhance the socio-economic status of vulnerable women by providing grants in ten selected municipalities. It focuses on strengthening local efforts to empower women, offer legal aid, and provide shelter and support for survivors of domestic violence.

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by representatives from Bihać, Tuzla, Derventa, Bijeljina, Gradiška, Olovo, Gacko, Vlasenica, Novi Grad, and Sapna, along with officials from the EU Delegation to BiH, including Mr. Ferdinan Koenig (Head of Communications), Aida Behrem (Director of the Association Žene sa Une), and Elmir Bojadžić (Regional Director of ASB SEE). This agreement formalizes their commitment to strengthening support mechanisms for vulnerable women. Additionally, each local government will contribute €3,500 to the initiative.

By promoting women’s rights and equality in Bosnia and Herzegovina, this EU-funded project represents a crucial step toward a more inclusive and supportive society.
