From skills development to stronger voices: Women in Dragash building confidence, solidarity and new opportunities
Women from the municipality of Dragash who participated in the project Supporting Women’s Integration in Rural Areas of Kosovo shared how the initiative helped strengthen not only their professional capacities, but also their confidence, solidarity, and readiness to take a more active role in the labour market and society.
Through tailored trainings, workshops, and open discussions, participants improved their employability, gained practical knowledge, and developed new skills aimed at increasing their access to better employment opportunities. At the same time, the project created a safe space for women to openly discuss challenges that are often faced in silence — including prejudice, workplace discrimination, harassment, and gender stereotypes.
During the implementation of the project, around 700 women attended workshops and activities organized through the center in Dragash. What began as a series of educational and empowerment activities gradually evolved into a strong support network where women connected, exchanged experiences, and encouraged one another across generations and backgrounds.
The project also involved young girls and students, emphasizing the importance of prevention, education, and early awareness in building more inclusive and supportive communities for women.
Implemented by WEntrepreneur Kosova and ASB South East Europe, and funded by the European Union in Kosovo, the WIntegra initiative continues to support women in Dragash, Gracanica, and Novo Brdo through activities focused on empowerment, inclusion, and long-term community resilience.
