IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROJECT FOR ECONOMIC STRENGTHENING OF INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS HAS STARTED IN SERBIA

Project: Support to Internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees in four local self – governments in Central Serbia through provision of durable housing solutions and economic sustainability measures
Total duration of the action: 22 months (June 2018– April 2020)

Implementing Partners: Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund in partnership with the City of Kruševac and the Municipalities of Aranđelovac, Ćićevac and Ub.

About the project: The project aims on supporting selected municipalities for providing durable housing solutions and economic sustainable measures for IDPs and returnees.
The project goal will be achieved through building of 7 prefabricated houses, purchase of 14 village households, distribution of 10 building material packages and 15 economic packages.
31 Internally displaced families will obtain durable housing solutions and up to 15 IDP/returnees families will be supported with economic packages in order to improve their socio-economic (re)integration;
The project is implemented by Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) Serbia, which will carry out these activities in cooperation with the following Municipalities: Kruševac, Ub, Ćićevac and Aranđelovac.

Main project activities
• Provision of durable housing solutions for IDPs and returnees in the four targeted municipalities (beneficiaries identification, building and hand-over of prefabricated houses, purchase of village houses, distribution of building material to IDPs and returnees)
• Provision of economic sustainable measures (realization of trainings for the development of income generating activities for IDPs/returnees, awarding of 15 economic packages and mentoring programme)
• Dissemination of best practices, monitoring and evaluation (development of the analysis of lessons learned/distribution of bulletin, development of monitoring/evaluation reports, Co-ordination with Local Authorities, Serbian Commissariat for Refugees and Migration and Civil Society organisations awarded with grant within the current programme

The project is funded by the European Union within the program for “Improving the living conditions of internally displaced persons and returnees from the readmission process in Serbia “.
