New equipment for more accessible services and greater support for persons with disabilities
Improving access to quality services for persons with disabilities remains an important part of ASB South East Europe’s efforts to support more inclusive communities across the Western Balkans.
Through the EMPOWERED project, new equipment has been delivered to institutions and organisations that provide essential services and support to persons with disabilities in Leskovac.
The Health Centre received a gynaecological examination chair adapted for persons with limited mobility, a hydraulic lift, and a three-panel privacy screen, improving access to healthcare services and creating better conditions for users. At the “11 October” School, a medical practice room has been established to help children with developmental disabilities become more comfortable with medical examinations and healthcare environments through an adapted and supportive approach. The Association of Persons with Muscular Dystrophy received a hydraulic lift for the safe transfer of persons with limited mobility onto a massage table, enabling a greater number of users to benefit from massage services.
These improvements strengthen the capacities of local institutions and organisations, helping remove barriers and ensuring more equal access to services and support for persons with disabilities.
Led by ASB South East Europe, the EMPOWERED project promotes the inclusion of persons with disabilities and the development of accessible and inclusive communities across the Western Balkans. In Serbia, project activities are implemented by IDC – Initiative for development and cooperation in cooperation with local stakeholders, including the City of Leskovac, to ensure that support responds to the needs of local communities.
