More about the project

Overall objective: Contribution to the sustainable (re-)integration of returnees and local vulnerable population in central and southern Serbia

The reintegration of returnees from the EU poses considerable challenges for Republic of Serbia (RS),
especially as the country has long been grappling with significant problems of migration. The main
obstacles to a successful policy in this context are the socio-economic context, poor coordination
between the institutions involved and inadequate implementation of existing strategic documents.
The overarching goal will be to improve the living conditions of returnees to the country by
expanding social services, providing targeted economic support and promoting capacity building in
the host society. In this way, not only successful reintegration is to take place, but also future illegal
migration is to be reduced.
