Minister of labour, employment, veteran and social policy Aleksandar Vulin, ASB regional director for South Eastern Europe Elmir Bojadžić, representatives of the City of Subotica and Commissariat for Refugees and Migration opened Refugee Camp in Subotica (re)constructed with the funds provided by German Federal Foreign Ministry and ASB. Organization Arbeiter Samariter Bund provided, up till this point, from its own funds and through the donation of GFM, over EUR 700.000 for assistance to refugees in Serbia and FYR of Macedonia.
ASB allocated around 150.000 Euros for adaptation of the Refugee Camp. Reconstruction works started in mid September 2015. and after less than two months, fully adapted Centre of 580m2 and capacity of 75-150 beds was handed over to the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration. ASB reconstructed old dormitory building, management and medical building, constructed new facility with kitchen, dining room and two sanitary blocks and concluded all infrastructure works on installation of sewage and water supply network as well as on heating system.
ASB allocated significant funds for Kanjiža where we donated fire brigade vehicle, sanitary equipment, mobile toilets, and sanitary containers with showers.
Under the project funded by the German Federal Foreign Ministry and implemented by ASB, volunteer service consisted of mobile teams of doctors, nurses, interpreters and volunteers was established. Partner organization Initiative for Development and Cooperation took over organization of the network which now counts around 25 volunteers working on the field. IDC distributes food, water, clothes, shoes and blankets to refugees in Adaševci near Serbian-Croatian borderline. IDC also established medical team, accredited by Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia, which provides necessary medical assistance to refugees passing through Šid. This team is active every day and also night having on call doctors and nurses ready to assist great number of people.
