Strengthened the socio-economic stability in Kosovo* through provided Returnee Community Business Start-up Support

At the end of March 2015, representatives of returnee communities from Kosovo participated at the first training for grant users for economic development of returnee comunitees in Kosovo* – “How to lead your own job”. The training participants were economic grant beneficiaries from returnee communities Istok, Osojane, Novo Brdo and Gnjilane (total of 10 people). The training was an activity prepared for strengthening of Returnee Community Actions within the project „Support to sustainable return and reintegration of IDPs to Kosovo”. The project, led by ASB Serbia is funded by the European Union.

The training consisted of the following modules: Characters of entrepreneurs, Presentation and Analysis of prepared business plans, Legal basis of business, Taxes and Contributions, Funding sources, Business Plan Workshop etc. Practicing business on already developed business plans with lot of examples from real life, made this lively training very interesting and useful for participants. Keeping in mind specific position of return communities, part of the training was dedicated to find out best possible legal and administrative framework for start up and development of businesses. The trainers were from Center for balanced regional development – CenTriR.

Sustainability of the return process in Kosovo* needs to be achieved by not only supporting the returning families but by supporting the communities of return in Kosovo*. Experience has shown that in order for new returnees to reintegrate in their places of origin the communities as such need to be strengthened. This will not only guarantee the sustainability of occurred return, but will also trigger new returns in the future.
