Support to Local Communities in the Prevention of Natural and Technological Disasters through the Donation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles – Drones
The regional project “Support to Local Communities in the Prevention of Natural and Technological Disasters through the Donation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles – Drones” is currently being implemented in 12 local communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Kosovo!
The role of unmanned aerial vehicles is becoming increasingly important every day. Their use in 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞, 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 is invaluable—especially in situations that require fast and precise action.

The goal of the project is to strengthen the capacities of local services to improve preventive action in situations such as:
floods
wildfires
illegal logging
landslides
technological accidents
As part of the project, each local community will receive one drone, to be used exclusively for DRR – Disaster Risk Reduction, in accordance with EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) standards and national regulations.
EASA standards define three categories of drone operations:
• Open – low-risk, basic operations (the category covered by this project)
• Specific – more complex and medium-risk operations
• Certified – high-risk operations requiring special licenses and approvals

Three staff members from each local community will attend a one-day practical and theoretical training on the designated use of drones, technical and operational procedures, and the legal framework in BiH, Serbia, and Kosovo.

Through this project, we are strengthening community preparedness, improving citizen safety, and increasing local capacities for faster and more effective response in crisis situations.
