As part of the regional project “United Against Domestic Violence,” funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and local partners, ASB SEE main office from BiH successfully completed the reconstruction of a shelter for domestic violence victims in Bijeljina, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
With a €24,000 donation from GFFO and an additional €5,000 from the Lara Foundation, the shelter now has a newly built kitchen, interior improvements, new windows, roof and the lighting.
The shelter supports up to 20 women and children, providing accommodation, medical care, and legal and psycho-social support. This renovation enhances the quality of care for those in need, as highlighted by shelter coordinator Mirzeta Tomljanovic.
The project “United Against Domestic Violence in the Western Balkans – Regional Cooperation and Support to Shelters for Victims of Domestic Violence” supports 11 shelters for the victims of domestic violence in the West Balkan region. The project is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, implemented by ASB South East Europe offices and co-funded by local government units in 11 project municipalities.
ASB is a German aid and welfare organisation, engaged in areas such as civil protection, rescue services and social welfare services. As a non-political organisation, ASB has, since its foundation in 1888, provided rapid and direct help to all those in need of our support.
