Assistance to flood affected businesses in Loznica

Enterprise Elektron from Loznica, after being greatly damaged in the 2014. floods, was on a verge to be closed which meant job loss for 15 employees.

“It looked horrific to me. During the floods, water level kept on growing for four days constantly, and we couldn’t even come close to the object. When the water had subsided a bit, we’ve spent five days just cleaning all the mud. After everything, we were left with damaged object, and the most valuable, machines for work, were partially or totally broken” says Luka Jamina, co-owner of the enterprise.

SZR Elektron is producing different types of machines, mainly dryers, sterilizers and dental equipment. They proudly emphasize key characteristics of their company: precision, regularity and high-quality products. As they say, the flood that struck them threatened to destroy everything they’ve being building from 1986 when the company was opened. In order to help them in revitalization of their business, with the funds provided by the European Union, ASB donated them necessary machines and tools.

“When the people from ASB approached us and told them they want to include us in the Programme and help, we didn’t believe at first. Up until that point, not a single promise about the assistance was fulfilled. Still, the help came, and the only thing we can do is to express our gratitude and say we are over thrilled” says Luka.

Owing to the hard work of all employees and donor’s assistance, enterprise Elektorn is now producing machines once again, and all of its workers kept their jobs. In Loznica, EU assisted 19 small and medium enterprises, which enabled existence for over 50 families.
