An old native American proverb says „𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧“.
In the first week of October we marked the International Children’s Week, hoping to raise awareness of the importance of respecting the rights of every child in Bosnia and Herzegovina, without discrimination, applying the principles in the best interest of our children.
The ASB representatives, Sava Pantelic, the Desk Officer for Southeast Europe and International Samaritan Cooperation, and Rusmir Hanic, the ASB SEE Project Manager, visited the Children’s Educational Center “Give us a Chance – Little Stars” in Banja Luka.
Within the project „𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐯𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐬𝐧𝐢𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐳𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐚“, ASB had installed specialized devices in the sensory yard of the Center, that help develop motor skills in children with disabilities.
Since this is the only sensory yard of this kind in Banja Luka region, the “Little Stars” Center has become the regional center in providing therapeutic activities for the youngest population. Their services are now being used by beneficiaries with disabilities from other neighboring associations as well. This made them initiate the process of developing a formalized program for service provision to other similar organizations through the Center for Social Work in Banja Luka.
